Terms of Service
Last updated: 4 August 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Drivelines, the website at https://drivelines.app, and any related services (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Joshua Parkin, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("Drivelines", "we", "us", "our").
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 16, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms and our Privacy Policy with you. You must also be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement in your country of residence.
If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
2. Your account
To use most features of the Service, you need to create an account. Authentication is provided by Clerk; you can sign up with email and password, or with Google.
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials secure.
- All activity that happens through your account.
- Providing accurate information when you sign up.
- Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
You may have one account per person. You may delete your account at any time from within the app — see our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, that have been inactive for an extended period, or that pose a security or legal risk to the Service or other users.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service responsibly and lawfully. You will not:
- Use the Service in any way that breaks the law, infringes anyone's rights, or breaches the UK Highway Code or equivalent driving regulations in your country.
- Plan, log, or share routes that involve trespassing on private land or driving on roads where you don't have lawful access.
- Upload, share, or coordinate content that promotes dangerous driving, illegal street racing or "takeovers", unauthorised car meets, or driving while impaired.
- Upload content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, deceptive, or that infringes anyone's intellectual property or privacy.
- Upload photographs of other people where doing so would breach local law or their reasonable expectation of privacy.
- Use the Service to harass, stalk, or surveil others.
- Attempt to scrape, mass-download, or systematically extract data from the Service, except through APIs we provide (if any) and only within their terms.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Service.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or interfere with its operation.
- Use bots, automated tools, or fake accounts to inflate engagement.
- Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited communications to other users.
- Interact with the Service while driving in a way that breaks the law or distracts you. Use the Service as a passenger or while safely stopped.
We may remove content or restrict accounts that we reasonably believe violate these rules.
4. Objectionable content and user conduct
Drivelines has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. Content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, threatening, or that promotes dangerous or illegal driving (as set out in section 3) is not permitted on the Service. Users who post such content, or who harass, threaten, or abuse other users, are not welcome.
4.1 Reporting content and users
Every user-generated post, drive, route, comment, and profile on the Service includes a report option. If you see content or behaviour that breaches these Terms, please use it. You can also email us at [email protected].
4.2 Blocking other users
You can block any other user from within the app. When you block someone, their content is immediately removed from your feed and they will no longer be able to interact with you on the Service. Blocking a user also notifies us so we can review their conduct.
4.3 Our commitment
We review reports of objectionable content and abusive behaviour and will take action within 24 hours of receiving a report. Action may include removing the content, issuing a warning, suspending the account, or permanently terminating the account and ejecting the user from the Service. We will take whichever action we reasonably consider appropriate to the breach.
5. Driving and safety — please read this carefully
Drivelines is a tool for planning and remembering scenic drives. It is not a real-time navigation system, an emergency service, or a substitute for safe driving.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- Routes are not verified. We do not independently check routes for safety, legality, current passability, road conditions, weather, or seasonal closures. Roads and conditions change. A route that was scenic and open last summer may be closed, washed out, gated, or unsuitable today.
- AI-generated suggestions may be wrong. Route suggestions generated using AI (currently Google Gemini) may include errors — for example, they may suggest roads that don't exist, are private, are seasonally closed, or are unsuitable for your vehicle.
- You are responsible for your driving. You must comply with all applicable road laws, the Highway Code, speed limits, and licensing and insurance requirements. You must drive within your skill level and your vehicle's capabilities.
- You verify routes before you drive them. Before following a route, satisfy yourself that it is safe, legal, and appropriate for your vehicle and the conditions on the day.
- Do not use the app while driving. Plan routes before you set off. If you need to look at the app while in motion, hand the device to a passenger or pull over safely.
- Mobile and GPS coverage isn't guaranteed. Many scenic routes go through areas with poor signal. Carry paper or offline navigation as backup if it matters.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for accidents, vehicle damage, traffic violations, fines, recovery costs, getting lost, getting stuck, or any other consequence of following routes from the Service.
6. Your content
When you upload routes, drives, photographs, descriptions, or other content to the Service ("Your Content"), the following applies.
6.1 You keep ownership
You retain all ownership and intellectual property rights in Your Content.
6.2 You grant us a licence
You grant Drivelines a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable licence to host, store, reproduce, modify (for technical reasons such as resizing, format conversion, or thumbnail generation), display, and distribute Your Content, solely for the purpose of operating, providing, and improving the Service.
This licence ends when you delete the relevant content from the Service, except to the extent it remains in routine backups (which are deleted on a rolling basis) or where retention is required by law.
6.3 Public content
When you mark a route or drive as public, you additionally grant:
- Other Drivelines users a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to view your public content within the Service and to save references to it (e.g. bookmarks) within their own accounts.
- The general public the ability to view your public content through the Service and through search engines that index it.
Other users may not download, redistribute, reuse, or commercially exploit your public content outside of the Service without your separate permission.
You can change a public route or drive back to private at any time. Once private, the public licences above end, although cached or indexed copies held by third parties (e.g. search engines) may persist for some time outside our control.
6.4 Your warranties about Your Content
You confirm that:
- You own or have all necessary rights to upload and share Your Content.
- Your Content does not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.
- Your Content complies with these Terms.
6.5 We may remove content
We may remove, hide, or restrict access to content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms, infringes someone's rights, or creates legal or safety risk. Where practical, we'll let you know why.
7. Drivelines' intellectual property
The Service itself — including the website, application, branding, design, code, and any content we create — is owned by Drivelines and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service except as expressly allowed by these Terms.
The "Drivelines" name and logo belong to us. Please don't use them in a way that suggests we endorse you, your business, or your content without our written permission.
8. Third-party services
The Service uses third-party providers including Mapbox, Google (Gemini API), Clerk, RevenueCat, Stripe, Apple, Google Play, Cloudflare, and others described in our Privacy Policy. When you interact with their services through Drivelines, their own terms may also apply. In particular, map tiles and routing data are provided by Mapbox and are subject to Mapbox's terms of service.
We are not responsible for the availability, content, or accuracy of third-party services.
9. Subscriptions and paid features
The core Service is free to use. Some features are available through Drivelines Pro, an optional auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly).
9.1 How you're billed
Payment is collected by the platform you purchase through, with subscriptions managed by RevenueCat:
- iOS app: billed to your Apple Account through the App Store, subject to Apple's Media Services terms.
- Android app: billed through Google Play, subject to Google Play's terms.
- Web: billed by card, with payments processed by Stripe.
The price, billing period, and what's included are shown clearly before you complete a purchase.
9.2 Renewal and cancellation
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can cancel at any time: on iOS via your Apple Account subscription settings, on Android via Google Play subscriptions, and on the web via the "Manage subscription" option in the app. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription — cancel through the platform you purchased on.
9.3 Refunds
For purchases made through the App Store or Google Play, refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies — we can't issue refunds for those purchases directly. For web purchases, contact us at the email in section 18.
9.4 Your consumer rights
- For UK consumers, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply, and nothing in these Terms takes those rights away.
- Distance selling rules give UK consumers a 14-day right to cancel certain purchases. For paid digital services, you can lose this right if you ask us to start providing the service immediately and acknowledge that the right to cancel ends once the service starts. We'll make this clear at the point of purchase.
9.5 If a subscription ends
If your subscription lapses or is refunded, your account returns to the free tier and features that require Pro are restricted. Content you created (such as saved routes beyond a free-tier limit) is not deleted, but access to it may be limited until you resubscribe.
We may change subscription prices. If the price of your subscription increases, you'll be notified in advance through the platform you purchased on and, where required, asked to consent before the new price applies.
10. Service availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may need to take the Service offline for maintenance, upgrades, or other reasons.
We may add, change, remove, or limit features at any time. If we make a material change that significantly reduces the Service for paying users during a paid period, we'll give reasonable notice and, where appropriate, a pro-rata refund.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from within the app.
We may suspend or terminate your access if:
- You materially breach these Terms.
- We are required to do so by law.
- Continued provision of the Service to you would create a security, legal, or financial risk.
- Your account has been inactive for an extended period (we'll usually email you first).
On termination, the licences you grant us under section 6 end (except as noted in 6.2 regarding backups), and any provisions that by their nature should survive — including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and intellectual property — continue.
12. Disclaimers
Except as expressly set out in these Terms or required by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Nothing in this section excludes any warranty or right that cannot be excluded under UK law, including the statutory rights of consumers under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
13. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- Any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable UK law (including, for consumers, rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015).
Subject to the above, to the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or punitive losses; loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill, or data; or losses arising from your use of, or reliance on, route information or AI-generated suggestions.
- Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to liability, or (b) £100.
For the free version of the Service, you acknowledge that we provide it at no charge and that this limitation reflects that.
14. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold Drivelines harmless from claims, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your breach of these Terms;
- Your Content;
- Your violation of someone else's rights;
- Your use of the Service in a way that breaks the law or causes harm to another person or their property.
This does not apply to the extent the claim arises from our own negligence or breach.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know — typically by email or an in-app notice — at least 14 days before the changes take effect. By continuing to use the Service after new Terms take effect, you accept them. If you don't accept them, you can stop using the Service and delete your account.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms, and any dispute arising from them or from your use of the Service, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that, if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your home country.
17. General
- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, form the entire agreement between you and Drivelines about the Service.
- No waiver: If we don't enforce a right under these Terms, that doesn't mean we waive it.
- Severability: If part of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
- Assignment: You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours, for example if the business is sold, on terms that protect your rights.
- No agency: Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship between you and Drivelines.
